Yummie Tummie Style Challenge
When the Clever Girls Collective asked if I'd like to try my hand at styling a Yummie Tummie white T-shirt, I couldn't say yes fast enough. For one, I've heard nothing but good things--excited, passionate, waist-trimming things--about the brand, and for another, creating an outfit out of a T-shirt is pretty much my style M.O. My wardrobe is built on versatile basics--jeans, solid-color tops, neutrals--and then, because woman cannot live in basics alone, I let my style come through in the details, with interesting (I think) shoes, jewelry, scarves, bags, hair accessories, and makeup. This approach to fashion appeals to my practical side (I can mix and match the pieces to create a range of different looks) and to my frugal side (what? there's a difference!), since I can keep my look current by picking up cheaper trendy accessories instead of having to "invest" in larger, more expensive trendy items. I finally broke down and bought some skinny jeans, for instance, but they were only $20, so I felt okay about it even though I can't wear them every day and I know their lifespan will be brief, especially since the space-time continuum thought it would be funny if I woke up one morning and suddenly realized I'm "a woman of a certain age."
And speaking of those skinny jeans, I used those in the first of two looks I built around my Yummie Tummie shirt. (I chose the long-sleeved V-neck version.) I tried to take some "editorial" fall-fashion self-portraits with a timer, but the lighting was bad and the tripod janky and I only managed to get in front of the camera and look halfway decent once before the timer went off, and only later did I realized that you can't even see the shirt in the photo. Fall fashion fail.
Most of my shots turned out like this, and the only good thing to come out of the madcap session (thank goodness it was in the backyard where no one could see me) was a picture of my shoes against the fallen red grape leaves and the fallen pink bougainvillea petals, which is lovely and all but totally not the point.
That's why instead of modeling for you, I've laid out the clothes and kept myself behind the camera, where I belong (especially since to photograph the clothes I just stripped them off my body right there and conducted the rest of the shoot nearly nakers).
Outfit 1:
A white T-shirt plus dark jeans makes a great everyday uniform but not much of a style statement. To dress this up for a casual date, I'd wear my gold rose heels (supah cheap at TJ Maxx), my sequin belt (origins unknown), and my multistrand jewel necklace from LOFT--a piece that ups the glam of any outfit. (Try it with p.j.s and see!) The purse is from Target and I think I've taken it to every wedding I've attended since 2006. Hooray for value!
Outfit 2:
I bought some awesome red patent peep-toe wedges from Target a few months ago and I never pass up an opportunity to wear them. I figured a white T-shirt and a denim pencil skirt would be a great chance to show off the shoes as part of a brunch-and-shopping outfit (yes, I like to occasionally pretend I have a life), but then I remembered that (a) the shoes are made for sitting, not walking and (b) the Yummie Tummie brand is basically shapewear worn as actual clothing (rather than as an undergarment) and the best way to highlight how small this shirt makes my waist look (really small!) is to accent it with a vintage belt. (Here, "vintage" means my mom wore it in the eighties.) The belt is red too, though, and I thought red shoes and a red belt were a little too matchy-matchy (okay, a lot too matchy-matchy), so I swapped those shoes with some navy wedges I bought in London in 2006 (ooh la la) and threw in a yellow purse (Target!), which I though would be fun. Finally, the pièce de résistance: the red lipstick that I fell for earlier this year.
I always keep in mind that when my lipstick/gloss is all-caps RED, it's no longer makeup, it's an accessory, and to that end I take care to not fuss up my face with bold eye makeup or statement jewelry or headbands with beading or feathers or live, chirping canaries, etc. Thus, with this look, I chose the small, simple, neutral diamond "push present" necklace, which has a funny story behind it too.

(Not sure what was up with the super-weird color cast, which I can't fix for some reason...)
What do you think? Did I make good use of a boring old white T-shirt?

Look at you, being all lifestyle-blog-like -- although the blooper shots and the mental image of you snapping photos of carefully folded and arranged clothes while in your skivvies brings it back to reality (in a good way). :)
I think you did smashingly. I didn't mind the matchiness of the red shoes and belt (but don't go taking style tips from me) -- mostly because those red shoes blew my MIND. So cute!
I am very intrigued by the promise of a slimming t-shirt. On my way to their site now!
Don't think I didn't take a photo of that too!
You are so cute, I can't even handle it. Also, I've been wanting to try a Yummie Tummie for aaaages but can't justify the $$$!

Remember my warning, if I would be too easy to get to the store say they want to spend to $ 75 and comes with $ 300 or more low-Louis Vuitton Replica Designer Handbags and other merchandise!
Between me and my husband we've owned more MP3 players over the years than I can count, including Sansas, iRivers, iPods (classic & touch), the Ibiza Rhapsody, etc. But, the last few years I've settled down to one line of players. Why? Because I was happy to discover how well-designed and fun to use the underappreciated (and widely mocked) Zunes are.
Thanks for the publish. Continue to keep the good work.
I found your site from wikipedia and read a few of your other blog posts. They are cool. Pls continue this great work. Later on other fantastic American rock acts such as Lynrd Skynrd, The Eagles, America, the Allman Brothers, and the Doobie Brothers would come on the scene and shake up the world with their string of hit songs.
You sure do know what youre talking about. Man, this blog is just great! I cant wait to read more of what youve got to say. Im really happy that I came across this when I did because I was really starting to get bored with the whole blogging scene. Youve turned me around, man!

The Zune concentrates on being a Portable Media Player. Not a web browser. Not a game machine. Maybe in the future it'll do even better in those areas, but for now it's a fantastic way to organize and listen to your music and videos, and is without peer in that regard. The iPod's strengths are its web browsing and apps. If those sound more compelling, perhaps it is your best choice.
Superb topics, would really like to see a bit more pictures though!
Howdy, i read your blog occasionally and i own a similar 1 and i was just questioning in the event you get a great deal of spam comments? If so how do you stop it, any plugin or anything you'll be able to advise? I get so significantly lately it's driving me mad so any assistance is really considerably appreciated.
Im a huge fan already, man. Youve performed a brilliant job generating certain that men and women comprehend where youre coming from. And let me tell you, I get it. Fantastic stuff and I cant wait to read a lot more of your blogs. What youve got to say is essential and needs to be read.
As I have acknowledged, this is a business enterprise tool. It’s not really a miracle machine. It could easily develop into another expense unless you put the commitment into learning how to profit from it.
I would like to show some thanks to this writer just for rescuing me from this particular difficulty. Because of looking out through the the net and getting advice that were not beneficial, I thought my entire life was well over. Being alive without the presence of strategies to the issues you have solved by means of your short post is a crucial case, and the kind which might have negatively affected my career if I hadn't encountered the website. Your own personal ability and kindness in handling all areas was important. I am not sure what I would've done if I hadn't discovered such a thing like this. It's possible to at this point look forward to my future. Thanks so much for your expert and sensible help. I will not be reluctant to refer your web sites to any person who will need tips about this issue.
You Have a lot of useful ideas! Maybe I ought to consider doing this by my self.
This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like 'Mixview' that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you're listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of "neighbors" will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune "Social" is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.

Zune and iPod: Most people compare the Zune to the Touch, but after seeing how slim and surprisingly small and light it is, I consider it to be a rather unique hybrid that combines qualities of both the Touch and the Nano. It's very colorful and lovely OLED screen is slightly smaller than the touch screen, but the player itself feels quite a bit smaller and lighter. It weighs about 2/3 as much, and is noticeably smaller in width and height, while being just a hair thicker.Coach">http://coach-outlet-2011.info">Coach Outlet
