The “I Do” Two
Today is my parents’ anniversary. They are an inspiration. Before they got engaged, they dated even longer than Dylan and I (so far). My mom made her own bridesmaid dresses and my dad wore a tan tux with a ruffled shirt. They were married by the mayor of their city, who also happened to be a mortician. They had their engagement photos taken near a charming little pond in a particularly lovely corner of a cemetery where several family members are buried. My dad didn’t want a wedding ring, so my mom wears two bands. They went to Las Vegas and Disneyland on their honeymoon. I’m really really glad they got married and am pleased to say they have only gotten better with age. Happy Anniversary, Lovebirds!

(No, they are not soap stars who dress in evening wear in the middle of the day. This is a crappy picture of a good picture taken during a cruise they went on several years ago. Notice my mom looking very Vanna and my dad sporting a bow tie like the snazzy cat he is. Today I realized that this is the only picture I have of them together in my apartment besides the one of the cat sleeping on their faces, which I decided was not only unflattering but completely inappopriate to post in this context.)
Bearer of Bad News
This is really really sad. I met this guy a few months ago when he came into our office with a book proposal. He was like a cross between Malibu Ken and the Crocodile Hunter, tan and blond and totally SoCal-riffic but also hyper and crazy and unbelievably in love with wild animals–foxes and seals and elk, and most especially the bears. He talked of them like they were his pets. It’s an incredible loss.
How Now, Frown Cow?
I think I may have more than one stomach. Wait…no…I’m sure I have more than one stomach. All day long I have had the distinct wrenching pain of what could only be full-blown stomach cramps in no less than four places between my armpits and my pelvis. Neither Motrin nor cat massage nor medicinal heroin has been able to relieve me of this torture. I seem to recall that vampires do not have this problem, so if anyone has any connections, hook me up.
That is all.
