Turn It Off

Hey, thanks for playing nice with the Unrelated Ad Units I’ve had up lately. I know it doesn’t look good when I have a bunch of them in a row (and another is scheduled for later this week), but it’s a combination of poor planning on my part and less time to write posts without ads (on the baby’s part), and I do hope to avoid this in the future. I will say that it does help that these inter-post ads pay twice as much per campaign as I make for sidebar ads all month, so at least there’s that, and anyway, I do love being a BlogHer guinea pig for new programs. They say “Jump,” and I don’t mind asking “How high?”

The jumping and singing and dancing and smoke and mirrors it’s taking to get this minimal amount of worky-work done, though…HOO BOY. I’m back writing for Style Lush and Work It, Mom (under new ownership), and I should be on board again at Mom365 within in the month (this time writing about baby stuff, which I’m excited about). That’s…a lot of work, even for someone with an(other! knock on wood!) easy baby. My maternity leave runs out for my capital-J Job in just six weeks, which certainly calls for Stage 10 levels of panic, but you know what? I’m officially not freaking out about it…because as soon as I start thinking about it, I shut that shit right down. Turn it off! Like a light switch! Thanks, ancestors! To honor your superior ability to avoid unpleasant things, Linus travels back in time to 2008 and wears an invisible top hat and shuffles off to Buffalo with an invisible cane.

And to honor you, dear readers, and your superior ability to visit this site even when all I can muster are cat and baby photos: Linus rides an invisible bicycle.

It’s the least I can do, and also, today, the most. (I woke up with a sore throat and Fox is leaking snot and phlegm from his face holes and I have a lot of work to do and I AM TRYING NOT TO THINK ABOUT IT.)
