Apres Vous
I’m hiding in a corner of the hotel lobby leaching free wifi before taking a taxi to the airport and flying back home this evening. I’m hiding because there are still scattered BlogHers flitting through the soft-light of the hallowed Hilton, but my voice is shot, my feet are shot, and my brain and heart are already at max capacity so I just need a little time to myself. I’m also hiding because I’d hoped to avoid the noise of the passing public and the din of the Domincan Day Parade outside, but now that’s shot too, since some lady just came and sat beside me and started yakking into her phone at top volume in an accent so grating I refuse to identify it for fear of offending anyone, although, as far as yakking goes, I definitely prefer this variety to the one the next-seat-over surly teen did into a garbage bag on our flight to New York, but that’s another story.
Last night at 1 a.m., after the CheeseburgHer party (my feet feeling not unlike the tenderized meat in McDonald’s New Angus Snack Wrap) (I did eat a free hamburger at the event, but This Is Not a Sponsored Post), I started composing my annual annoying apres-BlogHer link-laden write-up, in bed in my pajamas, all teary-weary-eyed, yet instead of laying (lying?) that out immediately (but never fear, it’s a-comin’), please allow me to enlighten you with a few pictorial highlights from My BlogHer 2010.
My calling cards.
MARTHA!
Alexa’s book, at her launch party on Thursday night.
Exploring Central Park with Linda and Angella.
This will require some explanation.
Lawyerish! And Felicity! I’ve been waiting YEARS to meet this baby (and her mama).
Me and my roomie playing conference hookey in Times Square on Saturday morning.
Lovely ladies at the Style Lush Happy Hour.
With us in spirit. CheeseburgHer wasn’t the same without you, babe.
BlogHer10, also known as the weekend I learned to text.
Were you there too? Did you have a good time? Was Your BlogHer 2010 everything you hoped it would be?

I’m jealous of all of it but PARTICULARLY the Style Lush happy hour! My absolute favorite bloggers all in one place at one time. Next year…maybe.
It was great meeting you! You’re so tall and pretty and shiny!!
MARTHAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am so sad I didn’t get to be there. The picture of the Style Lush Happy Hour made me weepy. Ironic?
I MISS YOU!!!!!!!
I love how that photo of the two of us turned out.
(The text shot cracked me up. It pretty much sums up all of our texts this weekend.)
Did I mention that I miss you?
I like to imagine my text was saying:
* Hey, what are you…wearing for our date with Brad Pitt?
* Hey, what are you…going to do with that check for fifty million dollars you just won?
* Hey, what are you…playing at, lady? Stop flashing those men!
But sadly I know it was just “Hey, what are you…doing later?” or something equally lame and boring. Let’s pretend it was one of the above instead.
The only thing comforting me remotely about this post (since I was supposed to be there and had to back out last minute thanks to New Job) is that you live SO CLOSE and maybe someday when I visit Amber and Kristin we can have a mini-meetup. I am so glad you had fun!
So, so great to meet you after all these years, my beautiful friend. I wish we’d had more TIME! That’s my only complaint about the weekend, that all my favorite people were also other people’s favorite people (very eloquent, I am), so I didn’t get as much QT as I wanted. Next time!
It was both easier and harder than I expected (I was a first timer) but I loved it all. It was great to meet you on Saturday night.
well, you looked mighty hott in those pics.
glad you had a great time even with chopped meat for feet.
Style Lush happy hour = TOTALLY JEALOUS.
I LOVE that even in her text messages Holly uses proper punctuation. I am an avid texter but have long since given up my commas and really anything but a period. And forget capitalization.
Oh, right…and I can’t wait to hear about BlogHer!
I was there, and it was my first time going.
My biggest disappointment is… there were SO MANY people, the crowds were huge. I wanted to meet several people whose blogs I follow (ahem!) and didn’t get the chance. I mean, I’m not a stalkerish imposing type, and the chances of just stumbling upon one of you (whose blogs I follow) were pretty slim.
So I missed meeting several of the bloggers I enjoy the writing of, and several bloggers from my home town, and even a blogger from my own company (though a different city).
Other than that, it was a good time. I liked it well enough to know that I will go again next time. Maybe we’ll cross paths!
Can we go back now? I miss y’all!!
Oh my word. Your calling cards are like the CUTEST things I have ever seen! I was not at Blogher. I just saw your comment at Chookalooks and I thought you sounded so sweet I had to come and say hi : ).
Nice to meet you via the blogging world. So glad you had a good time!
Oh my gosh, looks so much fun. Can I join you for cocktails next year?
(By the way, do you notice how everyone describes you as shiny? It’s SO TRUE. Seriously, do you soak your hair in mayonnaise every night?)
