Lofty Expectations
A few years ago, I was out shopping for nothing in particular when I tried on a dress that, as soon as I tied the belt at the back, I knew was not just any old dress but A DRESS *fanfare* *fireworks* *confetti*. It was white with a small black print all over, short sleeves almost cap, wrap-style with a just-deep-enough V, and a hem falling perfectly knee-length, no longer, no shorter. It was a little business-casual, a little Ladies' Lunch at the Plaza, and wearing it made me hold my head higher, made me want to wear heels during the daytime and maybe even some lipstick. The fabric felt good, the fit was fantastic, and the apparent vanity sizing was enough to make a girl weep with joy and then scarf a dozen chocolate doughnuts in celebration (and who doesn't need an excuse for chocolate doughnuts, hmmm?). There was only one problem: I didn't need a dress like that, not even a little, and lo, it was a sad day in Me Land when my practical side yet again overruled my Here Be Magic side and I walked out of the store without the dress.
Now, this was something like seven years ago, and the fact that I still mourn this bit of artfully sewn piece of cottonpolyblendwhatever is either deeply tragic or just downright pathetic. Still, I must admit that, whenever I'd drive past an (Ann Taylor) LOFT (rebranding alert!), I'd get a little tear in my eye in memory of the purchase that never was but totally should have been. Seven years and I still remember. Seven years and I wasn't able to get her out of my head. Seven years and she was always the One that Got Away. And then this weekend...REDEMPTION.

Sometimes, dresses need to be bought and admired...we can MAKE a reason to wear them.
Maybe that's just me?...
I saw something concerning that on television yesterday. Thanks for explaining it more thoroughly
Hello! I know this is somewhat off topic but I was wondering which blog platform are you using for this site? I’m getting tired of WordPress because I’ve had problems with hackers and I’m looking at options for another platform. I would be fantastic if you could point me in the direction of a good platform.
