A Month of Sundays

We have busy weekends coming up, and if it weren't for the fact that weekends are the only times we get anything of consequence done (weekdays are devoted soley to paying the bills (and by that I mean going to work, not literally paying the bills, as that too must be handled on weekends, when I have the stamina), I would still be feeling comfortable with the ratio of Weeks to Preparations Needed Before We Are Baby-Ready. We have ten weeks, see, and that's, like, a whole lot of weeks. La-dee-dah. Plenty of time.

Not so la-dee-dah, however, is the reality that we only have ten weekends, many of which are already devoted to things not directly involved with achieving optimal baby-readiness. This weekend, Simon is attending an all-day bachelor party. Next weekend we fly to Southern California for a baby shower (ours!). The weekend after that we're spending two nights out of town for a wedding (not ours! although you never know...). The weekend after that is technically free, but we'll most likely spend the bulk of it preparing for the next weekend, when there will be another baby shower (ours again!) at our house (because we are insane Simon promised he'd take care of it and I wouldn't have to do a thing). (The party is being officially host(ess)ed by someone else, but I'm not expecting her to spend the previous weekend Swiffering our floors).

So far, the remaining weekends of November are clear (unless you count Thanksgiving), but, pardon me for getting elementary, but have you ever noticed how close November is to December, aka the predicted month of my son's birth? And did you know that I'm going on maternity leave in November--in fact, in fewer than forty working days from this moment right now? All things considered, we actually only have four weekends before there will most likely be a child at our house (and that's if he comes on his due date which, preparation-freakout aside, I hope he laughs in the face of and instead arrives fashionably early, say, within the first few days of December so as not to bump up too close to Christmas).

I have a looooong list of things to do, some of which are major and baby-related (e.g., finish the changing table), others of which are major and somewhat baby-related (e.g., get eyeglasses that aren't broken and filled with an eight-year-old prescription, in hopes that I will be able to actually see and just not feel my way to the child during the wee hours), and others of which are major and not exactly baby-related unless you consider those $35/month dues have been draining from my bank account for far too long and the madness must stop now (i.e., cancel membership to gym I haven't set foot in for two years).

So that's the plan. All that plus scrub the grout and reorganize the filing cabinet and deal with gigs and gigs of digital photos and knit that eensy hat and update the pregnancy scrapbook (oh yes) and still somehow manage to spend hours and hours and hours on the couch because, come three p.m. every day, I feel too big to move.

What are you doing this weekend?

It starts getting scary when you are counting down like that! I was the same way and of course I left too much to the last minute and the little shit was 11 days early and OMG MY LIST IS NOT FINISHED! I screamed on the way to the hospital.
I have a great suggestion for your grout- Mr Clean Magic Erasers! Best Product Ever.

I'm trying to have a baby this weekend as I'm OVERDUE. So you just might have an extra weekend in there you never expected. LOL. Anyways have fun gearing up. It's awesome!

Wow, I suddenly feel like I don't have much time and I have 20 weeks!

This weekend, though, we're celebrating Mike's 31st birthday with a crazy birthday-slash-Halloween-themed party.

Whew! I can't believe how close your wee one's arrival is getting to be! This weekend? I've organized a giant Kid's Stuff Garage Sale (swap meet, if you will) for the city in which I live. Should be fun and a chance for many to get their hands on some good, cheap, stuff!!

My husband is away so I'll be wearing the comfiest of clothes and not setting foot outside the house. Plans for today include watching 6-8 episodes of Grey's Anatomy, baking a cake and eating it. Throw in a cup or two of coffee somewhere and I think that is it.

The outlaws are here for an early Canadian Thanksgiving. I will have my hand shoved inside a turkey carcass at some point today.

I'm sitting on the couch, growing.

Ooo, enjoy SoCal when you're down here. The weather was sweltering earlier this week, but we might have just crossed into fall today. I'm sitting on crossed fingers and wearing a sweatshirt.

Hosting a chili cook off party. At 15 weeks.. i must be crazy.
