Still Crazy after All These Years

One of my coworkers started chewing gum very loudly, so I popped in my earbuds and set my iTunes to shuffle. About twenty minutes later I was listening to the theme song of those webcasts we did once upon a time (and stopped doing because they were a lot of work and no one really seemed to care).

It was the episode from my birthday two whole years ago (same old complaints, same old surprises), and it was a fun stroll down memory lane to hear us talk about our adventures and finish each other's sentences, as we still do today. Just hearing that theme song took me back to the time when we would record those webcasts, laying in bed at the end of the day in our old ghetto apartment, and it sufficiently blows my mind that two years later we are where we are, doing what we're doing, planning what we're planning, and yet still having as much fun with each other as we ever did. I still thrill at the sound of his voice, I still repeat every other thing he says and then giggle about it, and he still thinks it's cool when I rip a hearty belch. Still crazy after all these years indeed.

In case you missed it the first time around, here's a link back to that episode (access the others under "Webcasts" in the sidebar). And if you enjoyed this expanded format of agirlandaboy.com, just wait until the you hear the next audio installment: Simon wrote a country song for the baby so sweet it will make your teeth fall right out of your head.

Ooooh! A song? Can't wait to hear it!

Oh, wait...

-Simon.

Simon wrote a country song? !!!

P.S. Graduation Friday, which means... HOME SOON! :)

Teeth fall out of my head - ha!

Also, you both sound so different from what I thought!!

My teeth had to resist the urge to fall out of my head just on the knowledge that he did something so sweet. Who knows what the song will do. And here's an easy place to make a podcast: http://www.podomatic.com/
In case you wanted to do a pregnancy/baby podcast or anything. Which I would love.

I remember listening to the webcasts and being so surprised at what your voice sounded like. I guess I expected you to sound more like me, since that's the voice I hear in my head when I read your blog. I think your speaking voice is very lovely, though, and mine...not so much. I have a mannish voice and yours is all "I am cute! Listen to me!"

I dont want to be all "just wait" on you but OMG really. If he is already writing songs to your 10 week old fetus, hold on to your hat woman. He is going to make you weep. You will fall even more in love... you are a lucky woman!

I feel for everyone who hears my voice and says, "That's not how she sounds in my head!" It's now how I sound in my head either. :)

You know what I mean. (Help! I made a typo on my own site and am powerless to correct it because I'm at a weird computer!)

I love your podcasts! I was so sad when you guys stopped doing them! Can't wait to hear Simon's song...

That was delightful. I loved the belch. And count me as being a part of the "you didn't sound how I thought you'd sound" team.

I'm so excited about the song!

Just out of curiosity... is it any weirder to have strangers following -- with joy -- your pregnancy (squee) than it is to have them following -- also with joy -- the rest of your life?

I want to hear Simon's song!

Ha! I was listening to my itunes on shuffle earlier and lo there was Simon's band streaming through my laptop. Can't wait to hear the song.

I can't wait to hear the song again. I almost started crying when you played it for us a couple of weeks ago.

(Also liked Simon's "Rusty Nail Foot" song sung into Dan's voicemail)

Wow, I guess I didn't comment back then. I listened to your podcasts, though, and I know I started reading your blog at least a year before that.
