Real quick-like:
--2nd OB appt., HB on doppler (at 9w3d!) strong and fast at 180bpm (n.p. says "It's a girl!"; Simon says, "It's probably just the cocaine").
--Simon tells checker at TJ's that we're having a baby and she gives us three balloons, which I wear on my wrist for the rest of the afternoon.
--My mom mails us a box of goodies and I cry all over them because oh my god we're having a baby.
--Aversions: asparagus, artichokes, meat in chunk form, chicken in any form, getting off my lazy ass
--Interests: apples, oranges, bananas, strawberries, raspberries, tomatoes, fruit juice, yogurt, cottage cheese, melted cheese, bacon cheeseburgers, enchilada sauce, sour cream on everything, pickles by the jar, television
--Puking: none
Hurrah tiny wombat! Delighted everything is going well so far.
Posted by: Catherine at May 15, 2008 11:58 AMEat another bacon cheeseburger immediately. WOMBATS NEED BACON.
Posted by: Moose at May 15, 2008 12:24 PMGreat news! Sounds like a girl to me.
And I have many of your same aversions, only no pregnancy to blame them on.
Posted by: Kate at May 15, 2008 12:36 PMI am SO SO happy and excited for you all!! xoxo
Posted by: whoorl at May 15, 2008 12:40 PMLeah, I just have to say how exciting it is to see/read about you going through this pregnancy. It is always so wonderful to watch people you like experiencing the things they have long desired. Anyways all the best and I have to say I am looking forward to all the adorable baby pictures that will be filling this blog is only a few short months :)
-also Moose really hits the nail on the head, all wombats need bacon!
Posted by: Abby at May 15, 2008 12:48 PMWhat is it about pregnancy and chicken? Still shuddering at the memories. Also, your "interests" sound disgustingly healthy, I'd like to see more Ding Dongs, Ben & Jerry's, Cheetos, massive spoonfuls of peanut butter, etc, on that list. Chop chop!
Thank you, I feel less concerned about you now. lol :)
Posted by: stephanie brown at May 15, 2008 12:56 PMThank you, I feel less concerned about you now. lol :)

Posted by: stephanie brown at May 15, 2008 12:56 PMThree times less concerned at that! Submit button is a little touchy today.
Posted by: stephanie brown at May 15, 2008 12:56 PMActually, now that I think about it, I could really go for some KFC Original Recipe drumsticks right about now. That is, if I can just eat the skin and throw the rest away.
Posted by: Leah at May 15, 2008 01:12 PMIn my first trimester I was in love with Oranges - not the sweet ones but the tart ones... I could drink a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice (which probably contained 8 or so oranges) and then polish off a couple of whole organes as well. I just couldn't get past anything tart and slighly sour... oh and Salt and vinegar chips were to die for and I would eat a whole packet beofre Adman came home and then share a packet with him as though I hadn't had any myself!! enjoy the cravings as its your body telling what you need (or may be just what you would really like!!)
Posted by: Anna at May 15, 2008 01:46 PMHmmmm, based on your cravings (similar to mine with my girl), I am going to predict you are having a girl. For no other reason than to be obnoxious. :-) hee hee
Posted by: cagey at May 15, 2008 02:23 PMI agree, its a girl! Hah, my cravings included tuna fish sandwiches (eek mercury), peanut butter bagels (eek peanuts), prawn flavoured crisps, maraschino cherrys straight out the jar and breakfast sandwiches made with sausage and marmalade. Yup, totally weird!
Posted by: Super Sarah at May 15, 2008 03:26 PMYep, I also have my guesses based on what you are saying.
SO fun, Leah! Thrilled to my tiptoes for you.
I craved Thai food and anything else spicy...mmm, Chipotle guacamole. I also did the salt/vinegar chips but only if I could drink lemonade with them. OH, so good. I also had sushi on my birthday and drank a mimosa on Mother's Day. Oh, yeah, I was a rebel!
I'm so happy your OB appt went well.
I had a few bites of sushi on Sunday and it was just meh. Could be that it was mediocre sushi; could have been me. What I DO want, though, is to make a big bowl of sushi rice, fill up some tofu bags, and eat them until my eyes pop out and my bloodstream is 75 percent soy sauce.
Posted by: Leah at May 15, 2008 03:49 PMHooray for not puking
Posted by: Teej at May 15, 2008 05:13 PMyou know...i hate to break the chain here - but i had almost the EXACT cravings & aversions that you are experiencing - in fact, those first 2 months, all i could eat were tart oranges and clementines (that was back in nov.-jan.) along w/ all the foods you mentioned craving. i'm 28wks and just found out i'm having a boy! hmmmmmm... (of course, thought i was having a girl all along!)
Posted by: erika at May 15, 2008 05:25 PMI craved cottage cheese too, with a little seasoning salt on top! I also craved pizza and chili from Wendy's. Oh, and ditto on the Salt and Vinegar chips. Poor Brothers are the BEST!
Posted by: Rachel Lutterman at May 15, 2008 05:26 PMyour interests sounds like my every day very-unpregnant-interests. which makes me wonder what there will be left for me to crave when i AM pregnant!
so glad the second OB appt was good. woo hoo! go baby go!
Posted by: lindsey at May 15, 2008 05:56 PMYay, yay, yay!
Posted by: Heather B. at May 15, 2008 07:54 PMEvery post of yours MAKES ME WEEPY.
My second pregnancy (Graham) was full of the chunky meat/chicken avoidance.
I feel like you and I are pregnancy twins.
SO HAPPY FOR YOU!
Posted by: Angella at May 15, 2008 08:57 PMPotbelly's tuna subs when pregnant with my daughter, greasy cheeseburgers with a side of cottage cheese, with the son. Just saying .....
Posted by: mary at May 16, 2008 04:15 AMYeah!!! I love fast beating heartbeats.
Posted by: gorillabuns at May 16, 2008 06:20 AMSo freaking excited.
So freaking excited from my perch on the couch with my feet up and alternating heat and ice packs on my back.
I take this moment to recommend prenatal yoga. (Cause I'm reaping the punishment.)
Posted by: Helen Jane at May 16, 2008 11:09 AMIt makes sense that you would be craving food with a lot of calcium. That's great that you don't have morning sickness. Being pregnant must be your forte (or one of them). I was thinking that you were going to have a boy, for some reason.
Posted by: Green Eyes at May 16, 2008 11:10 AMAwesome!
You are what you eat. The baby won't care what it is as long as you're eating (to a degree).
A fast heartbeat only means the little tiger in there is doing very well and has nothing to do with the sex. That is determined by the presence or lack of an outer wee-wee. Really, I figured for you two to get in this happy moment I wouldn't have to draw you a diagram. :-)
Posted by: Texas T-bone at May 16, 2008 12:13 PMRe-reading my comment, I guess it does have something to do with "the sex," just not his or her sex.
Posted by: Texas T-bone at May 16, 2008 12:14 PMSOO freakin' happy for you Leah and Simon.
Posted by: reddirtroad at May 16, 2008 09:49 PMOh, I'm so sad about your asparagus aversion. It's my very favorite veg, and I still remember that post from ages ago where you made asparagus and put cheese and sliced hard-boiled eggs on top.
It had never occurred to me to do that, and now I make it all the time. Come on, Wombat! You know you want asparagus.
