Update update update!
One of my awesome nurse practicioners (the one who told me I can totally eat sushi while pregnant; love her) called first thing this morning to let me know the results of my blood test. Last last Tuesday my hCg was 5,353 and my progesterone was 24.3. Yesterday my numbers were 36,319 and 29.2! Go baby!
Her instructions to me (and my instructions to you) are to go ahead and breathe a little sigh of relief but continue to keep all fingers and toes crossed. Sounds like a plan. Meanwhile, Simon's plan is to go to Babies R Us and buy one of everything.
Thank you all for your continued good wishes and support. It's amazing to be able to share this with so many people who really truly care.
p.s. If you didn't go to Rebecca Woolf's reading last night in Oakland, go to tonight's reading in San Francisco! Details here.
Posted by Leah at April 23, 2008 11:10 AMI won't even pretend to know what those numbers mean, but since you are happy I will continue my happy dance. It looks like the dance that the peanuts characters do on the Charlie Brown Christmas Special, only I do all of them.
Posted by: Emily at April 23, 2008 11:25 AMOh thank goodness, I can stop holding my breathe for you! Though I'll still keep all fingers and toes crossed, no worries. Go baby!
Posted by: Sarah at April 23, 2008 11:48 AMeverything is crossed. and simon should buy two of everything, babies are messy.
Posted by: jeorg at April 23, 2008 12:00 PMAh, I'm going to guess that this is GREAT news. Yay! Are those numbers super numbers for that gestational stage, because I think you're having a super-smart baby, one who decides to make you appreciate it a little bit more every day by making you go through some emotional hoops. You know, just to keep things fresh.
And again: YAY!
Posted by: Marin at April 23, 2008 12:02 PMYAY! Will keep sending good thoughts your way. Go baby, indeed!
Posted by: Emily at April 23, 2008 12:05 PMHOORAY! Everything is crossed.
Posted by: She Likes Purple at April 23, 2008 12:07 PMOh, I'm so glad to hear that. I've been clicking your blog as soon as google reader tells me it's updated because [cue handwringing]. So: Hooray!
Target has some really cute baby stuff. Like classic Pooh Bear toys. Which, um, I might buy for myself. (Ahem.)
Posted by: Moose at April 23, 2008 12:11 PMWhoo Hoo! So glad the news was good. Keeping everything crossed. Tell Simon not to bother with the wipe warmer.

Don't tell Jenny McCarthy you're still eating Sushi...
Posted by: Sarah at April 23, 2008 12:13 PMWhy even chance it? Nine months isn't that long to go without sushi.

Re Moose : Glad to know I'm not the only person who wants to buy the classic Winnie the Pooh stuff from Target FOR ME AND ME ALONE.

Posted by: lindsey at April 23, 2008 03:38 PMI have no idea what those numbers mean but they went up around 700%, so something amazing is happening.
So happy for you!
Phew, what a relief! Great news! So exciting!
Posted by: Super Sarah at April 23, 2008 05:39 PMYayness!! funny how funny people get about sushi and a whole lot of other banned pregnancy foods. My policy was that if I knew it was superfresh, or was from a trusted source then I wouldn't worry - but for the stuff I wasn't so sure about its origins I would leave alone... THis meant I still got to eat plenty of sushi and yummy cheeses as well as ham at christams time!!
Posted by: Anna at April 23, 2008 06:51 PMYEAH!!!
I didn't have any of the typical pregnancy symptoms either. And I didn't show for a LONG time either. Everything turned out great and it will for you too. Just wait, before you know it you will be almost 9 months along and big and miserable. You won't be able to get in out out of bed easily and really what is the point when you have to get up every hour to pee! Good times are coming your way! Very excited for you both!
Posted by: Susie at April 23, 2008 07:54 PMYIPPEE!!! So glad it is all going good for you! Will keep fingers and toes crossed for you. Congrats, cuz I am late getting on this bandwagon!
Posted by: stacy kathryn at April 23, 2008 08:05 PMWhat excellent news! I'm so happy for you. xoxo

Posted by: jive turkey at April 24, 2008 05:46 AMYAY!!!! I'll continue to keep everything crossed, but, hey, so far so good!!! :)
Posted by: Sabrina at April 24, 2008 06:47 AMYay! What a relief!
Posted by: awatersign at April 24, 2008 07:15 AMFantastic! That's such great news, but yes, all that can be crossed still is.
I ate sushi and brie and my baby is a freaking genius. Way smarter than I'd like her to be at 17 months. Like most things, moderation is key. My one piece of non-solicited advice: buy a pair of maternity pants now as they are the greatest things on earth and will feel like heaven after you do the 'I can still squeeze into my regular pants even though I have to do the rubber band loop gizmo to hold them closed' thing for a few weeks. Trust me on this one!
Posted by: Leiah at April 24, 2008 11:27 AMI could never (ever) give up sushi for 9 months, this is great news! And I'm also happy you're still very pregnant. :)
Posted by: leandra at April 24, 2008 12:19 PMFor your own sake, I hope you ralph tons. I'll go buy stock on Saltines!
Posted by: Jemima at April 24, 2008 01:38 PMWhoo!
Posted by: monkey at April 24, 2008 01:43 PMYea!!!!!
