Miscellany

Okay, so we went to another bar birthday party and the farmer's market and breakfast at a greasy spoon and lunch at Skywalker Ranch, and old friends left and new friends arrived and there were hot tubs and mojitos and glasses of bubbly and silly hats and sing-alongs, and we watched many, many movies and we picked many, many, many lemons (and made Gimmy's lemonade) and we received news that we have to get fish (to keep the pond clean), and we attended one estate sale and one estate giveaway, and I now own a new pink cell phone and a new old Super 8 camera, and we painted the hallway a dark, Louvre-gallery blue.

Playing hookey from work means playing hookey from the blog, but it's hard to feel bad about it when in lieu of a view of manuscripts tottering many precarious inches into the sky from my desk, this was my view on Tuesday.

And in case you didn't hear the singing, HeatherB was here too, and I have pictures to prove it.

The long of it is: It's a Wonderful Life. The short of it is: Our housewarming party is on Saturday and we have a million and one things to do between now and then (not to mention all those pesky work and freelance projects) and alas the blog gets left in the dust. In the meantime, please talk amongst yourselves. I'll give you a topic. Should we theme decorate our bedroom tiki style, Japanese tea garden style, or African safari style? Discuss. I'm pretty sure this only happens with you. But when you post pictures after I've been with you, I get all teary eyed and ready to pack up and see you again. I actually told someone over the weekend that you two are honestly one of my favorite couples ever to hang out with.

Ok so I might skip out on moving on Saturday and just come out there instead. Strangely enough I've been known to fly out spontaneously to other destinations so San Francisco wouldn't be a problem.

I'm glad our tendency to overshare didn't make you want to run away and never return. We absolutely loved having you around and can't wait until your next visit.

HeatherB is on a world wide tour! It sounds so fun I am tempted to hide inside of Heather's suitcase

Hmmm... I'd say Japanese tea garden. But then again the African safari style is so much fun too... Of course, I'd be tempted to make lion/wildebeast/cheetah noises on those nights that I couldn't sleep and I'm not sure the other inhabitants of the room would enjoy that very much. Tranquil or adventuresome? Quiet or noisy? (I'm trying very hard to be g-rated here, do I get points for that?)

Oh and pass a Mojito with garden grown mint, would you?

African safari style!!! But then I am completely biased, being from Africa myself and would just get all homesick and mopey and a bedroom is supposed to a sanctuary of peace and tranquility so I have to go for Japanese Tea Garden!

I vote tea garden.

I'm partial to a tiki/Safari hybrid, actually.

Also, I am quite enjoying Heather B.'s tour through some of my favorite blogs as well. I'm all "where will she pop up next?" It reminds me of my childhood days spent watching Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego.

Japanese tea garden all the way. Very zen.

Tiki will forever remind me of the Bradys going to Hawaii, so perhaps a Brady Bunch theme? no?

Tea garden would be my preference. You can get that guy from Miami Ink to paint you some koi to hang above the bed. Anyone else see that episode?

Yay, you're back. I'm a big fan of African safari...

I find Japanese tea gardens relaxing. Bonsai!

japanese tea garden!

I vote for Japanese Tea Garden - sounds the most relaxing out of the choices presented. And really, shouldn't your bedroom be a relaxing, zen-like place?
