Painted Lady

How awesome is this?

weddingpainting.jpg

It's a painting someone did of Simon's sister's wedding, and there we are in the foreground--Simon with a cigar and me with my camera. :)

Simon's new brother-in-law, Kilo, recently posted some photos other people had taken at the wedding and reception, and one of my favorites was of two people I don't know having their picture taken with the bride, and up in the left-hand corner of the frame you can see me standing on a chair, in my dress and high heels, winking into the viewfinder of my camera. I think that's pretty cool, since it's pretty much what I did the whole time. Just like Simon smoked a cigar the whole time. There are a dozen other little details in the painting that remind me of a dozen little details that happened that day (that's Simon's mom carrying her shoes!); what a wonderful gift for the newlyweds.

Agirlandaboy.com tip of the day: If you're ever at an event at which you notice one person taking A LOT of pictures, be cool and take a picture of them taking pictures because (1) they probably won't end up in any others and (2) they'll think that's swell. If you want to be even cooler and sweller, include them in your painting.

I just wanted to give you something fun to look at while we wait for Simon to post his honey martini recipe. *taps foot*

I know, I'm never in pictures as I'm always the one behind the camera. I ended up buying a little remote control so I could prop the camera up and take a picture of myself. Like the nerd that I am.

Who's the peeking guy there in the corner? That's awesome.

I assume that guy peeking out from the corner is the artist, but I could be wrong. He's the only person I can't identify.

Nobody painted a portrait of my wedding. Boo hoo.

My favorite pic from mine is of the best man and maid of honor signing the wedding certificate, while my new bride and I are hugging and smiling and whispering sweet somethings. Totally unplanned pic and one of the best of the bunch.

Yes, the guy in the corner is the painter. It's hard to see, but he is wearing a bright orange tie. When he gave me this painting he also gave me the tie. At first I was a little bemused, but then realised that it was his way of asking me to be the best man at his wedding! He said that he had had such a great time, and thought we looked so happy, at our wedding that he decided to ask his girl friend to marry him.

That is VERY COOL. :)
