Tri Tips

We went to the triathlon to observe how the transitions work (i.e., how to get out of your wetsuit and into your biking shorts, shirt, gloves, helmet, sunglasses, and shoes in twenty seconds flat). I, of course, took a load of pictures.

This was the scene on the beach of Folsom Lake.

In the biking stage, we see a fine example of why women hate other women. We all know what the ladies in the background are saying.

(She was actually one of the few who was this insanely fit and toned.)

Strangely, Simon spent more time ogling the bikes than the women.

For me, the best part--as is usually the case--was spectating the spectators. The lady on her cell phone was dressed for the Kentucky Derby and did not look pleased to be in heels while the rest of us were in tennis shoes.

And because we are both (a) cute and (b) full of ourselves, we pointed the camera in each other's general direction and ended up with a bunch of shots like this:

Other winners from the weekend include:

Simon, in his throne, praying over the cake of which he is about to partake. Also file under "gin and tonic" and "pajama pants." (See my throne here.)

And here is Simon giving the cake a tongue bath. Also file under, "I used his toothbrush by mistake once, so we're even now."

As you will know if you listen to our webcasts, our top priority is to amuse ourselves, and I think we've got that covered.

Happy Monday, all.

from what i've gathered, simon's the only one doing the triathlons?. . . 'cuz i thought i'd point out that you might consider doing one too - the "tri for fun" series in pleasanton are super short and very doable. . . they also make a handy goal so that working out at the gym has an actual purpose rather than the ambiguous "to get in shape" thing. . . and for those who're more serious and thinking of doing alcatraz or wildflower, the tri for fun series is handy for practising transitions (although the lake is normally warm enough to not require a wetsuit). . .

Remind me not to eat the cake offered to me when I come to your house.

My favorite sport is spectating spectators. You'd think I'd be sly since I practice so much, but I'm definitely not. I stare and I'm not ashamed! :)

That was a surprisingly agile transition from triathalon to chocolate cake . . .

I have way more fun watching the fans at any sporting event I attend than watching the event itself. Spectating the spectators is one of my favorite pasttimes.

Okay, the lady on the cellphone with no hat is totally NOT dressed for the Kentucky Derby. No lady would show up for the Derby without a hat. Nice try, though. That's how we weed out all the Al Qaida operatives that show up for Derby.

Love the shots you two took of each other. Very cute. And Simon with cake reminds me of some I took of my kids on their first birthday...;)

Tammy--I'm pretty sure she left the hat in the car.
