Brother-Sister Act

When my brother and I were little and not busy terrorizing the babysitter and/or consuming fluoride tablets and/or sugar by the handful, we sometimes sat still long enough to create something of lasting merit. We scripted musicals, wrote novels, drew on each other with permanent marker, the usual. One of my favorite projects was when we would get a hold of the tape recorder and spend ninety minutes singing songs and telling stories and giggling those tight, rapid-fire kidlet giggles. The one where we sung a souped-up version of the ABCs is classic.

The last time I listened to that particular tape was at least a dozen years ago, when I accidentally recorded dead air over about ten seconds of the very best part. (After W, X, Y, and Z, we do this sort of proto-rap thing in which we name-drop our homies Kermit the Frog and "Piggy-Poo.") Even now, the thought that those ten seconds are lost forever makes my stomach scrunch up really small and turn blue.

In the last twenty-four hours, instead of reprogramming the universe or studying latticework in semiconductor crystals, my genius baby brother devoted his time to something much more noble: me! He churned out a little something I like to think of as the latest installment of those audio collaborations we first made twenty-something years ago.

Thanks, bub; you're a talented little monkey. Also: you owe me a new pair of pants, for I have just soiled the ones I'm wearing.

Note: The clip will be most effective if you have the latest webcast (a) fresh in your mind or (b) memorized. Go listen to it again. I will wait for you here.

Ready?

And now...

DJ Drazi featuring Horkmaster Stan

"C'mon, Cough It Up" (indietronic remix)

Bonus demo version here. (0:28)

Addendum
I got this email from my dad yesterday:
We played the Harfing Stan segment over and over while we laughed, and Tim did the hand puppet movements. [Ed note: There's a whole other story behind our thing with hand puppets...] Mom had tears in her eyes from laughing so hard. I guess it isn't that funny to certain people. Not many comments in that regard. Oh well, I guess we are a little "twisted."

If you think the "C'mon, Cough It Up" indietronic remix is the funniest thing you've heard all year, you are cordially invited to Thanksgiving at our house. We're having a taco bar. See you there.

Your brother owes me a pair of pants, too.
(thanks for posting this! My hubby's laugh floated through the window when he caught the beginning cough-it-ups. He was outside having a smoke.)

THAT were brilliant! Oh...so many good parts. You know, I've tried to play it cool every time you mention your brother, but really I think I'm in LURVE.

Speaking of which, I think my favorite part was "True love...wooo...Heehaw!" (Followed by...Seinfeld music?)

Ok, gonna post this. Hope it doesn't serve as further proof that people on the internet are freaks. :)
