WEBCAST: "Multimedia Blitzkrieg!"
Last week while riding around on the magical mystery bus of sparkles and rainbows that had become my brain on cough syrup, I decided it would be best if I put down the red pencil and backed away; just because I was lucid enough to walk to work without assistance didn't mean I had any business trying to accomplish anything work-related. So instead of crushing dreams and ruining lives as per usual, I instead listened to some webcasts of SXSWi panels and watched some short video interviews of some the universe's favorite blogstars. Very interesting.
Now, depending on how much you love us, your life is about to get either infinitely more exciting and interactive! or markedly worse. As of late last night, we at agirlandaboy.com have successfully created and uploaded our very first webcast (also downloadable as a podcast for those of you who are of that persuasion). The show is 10 minutes and 15 seconds, 9.38 mb, and worth at least $2.00 on the black market, although I'm not making any promises.
Some things I'm insecure about regarding this, our foray into the Audio Vanity Project:
1. "Simon" keeps calling me "Leah," which is bizarre because that's not my name. Of course, he regularly calls me a lot of things besides my name, but those, um, terms of endearment, don't generally get broadcast on the world wide web.
2. I seem to have developed a sort of Sasha Cohen-y way of talking. My "r"s sound really hard and there's a little more Valley Girl in my cadence than I'm comfortable with.
3. Some people say "um" or "uh" when they pause at the end of a phrase to formulate their next thought. I, however, tend to distribute my pauses evenly, inserting a little nugget of dead air between every. single. word. I sound like a robot with a slow processor. Must. Access. Vocabulary. Database. The other thing I do is draw out words so that two syllables magically mutates into fourteen.
3a. Do a shot every time I say "craaaazy."
I know this is a little much considering we're only halfway through the March Monday Music Madness Campaign to Exploit My Beloved™, but I had to post this webcast now because it contains several timely items, including the gripping true story of a near-tragic accidental self-poisoning, and How to Speak Irish in One Easy Step. Again, no promises.
Note: I don't want to hear about your dial-up. I'm looking at you, Tim.
So now, the moment you've all been waiting for: the March 17, 2006, agirlandaboy.com webcast,
In which...
...Leah blames the Communists
...Simon says "meninges" (SEXY)
...Leah puts the call out for hot dentists
...Simon drinks an entire bottle of Triaminic
...Someone takes a bawth
...Someone else laughs to fill the silence
...Both parties avoid offensive subject matter

I made it the entire 10 minutes and 15 seconds! Excellent podcast. It was nice hearing your beautiful-even-in-sickness voice. :)
DANG I love your voice! Do you sing? So beautiful. Hope your cough goes away soon.
Listening right now...
Simon you always have a 'temperature'(we would hope) it's a 'fever' that means your temperature registers above normal.
HA! Mossy teeth! That's great. Not really, but you know.
Leah HAS met SAJ, just not Baby Bug.
You people rock.
I was wondering only the other day after watching the vid of Simon's marvelous accordian expertise what your voices would sound like! And now I know...and by the way, you're so not boring! Try adorable, funny, amusing!
>:P
Excellent! We want more! Hope you're feeling better. I am still recovering from Friday...
Yay! That was great. Leah, you sound nothing like I imagined, but totally adorable and cool nonetheless. Simon, I noticed a few Britishisms in there, such as "could do" and "pisser". (Or are those not Britishisms?)
Looking forward to next week's podcast...
Listening to you guys wasn't really that hard. If no one got the idea that you guys were perfect for each other by reading, listening confirms the proof. I love you guys and I am looking forward to hearing more!
Simon's voice: exactly how I imagined it to sound
Leah's voice: totally different than I would have thought! But very endearing, nonetheless.
I'm with Amanda on this one. :o)
Leah, you sound so different than I imagined! It was weird to hear you guys but I lasted the whole 10 minutes. Can't wait to tune in next week.
i luv'ed the podcast. that was so very cool. and you two were not boring. you both have good voices for this sort of thing.
i personally think that you should podcast about one of simon's surprise dates...
Oh my lord, that was precious! I'm with Amanda and Shirley...Leah, you sound nothing like I had imagined and Simon sounds exactly like how I imagined. Not that I've sat around and imagined how y'all would sound like, but sometimes when I read, a voice comes...kind of outta nowhere and I assume that that's what you guys would sound like...
I'm not making any sense. Anyhoo, I enjoyed and can't wait for next week!
You guys crack me up.. too cute!
