Simon Says - "Four Things"

OK, everybody's doing it, so I will too. Now that I am part of the blog world, I can start doing it too. I am giving in to peer pressure. And whose blog convinced me to do it? That's right, it was Will. The man who gets the 2nd most attention from Leah, following yours truly.

Not the most interesting questions, but what the hell.

FOUR JOBS YOU'VE HAD IN YOUR LIFE
1. Janitor (Elementary School)
2. Grounds keeper (School district grounds)
3. Coffe Shop Guy (I make a damn good cappucino - pride in foam)
4. Bench Scientist (not so good at this - I could only count to 96 so many times in a day)

FOUR MOVIES YOU COULD WATCH OVER AND OVER
1. Fight Club (always a new detail to see)
2. Christmas Story (I'm the only person I know who saw it in its original theatrical release. It bombed, big time)
3. Star Wars (duh)
4. Empire (double-duh)

FOUR CITIES YOU'VE LIVED IN:
1. Okemos, MI (I was small, don't remember too much)
2. Mission Potato (Viejo), CA (great place to be FROM)
3. Berkeley, CA (went for college, love this town top to bottom)
4. Oakland, CA (current location - I have an odd civic pride in this great city)

FOUR TV SHOWS YOU LOVE TO WATCH
1. Twin Peaks (humor, horror, comedy, terror, great characters... best season ending of all time... "How's Annie? How's Annie?")
2. The Office - UK (it makes me so uncomfortable to watch it. Genius. Jeen-YUS)
3. Coupling - UK (only the Brits can get away with this on TV. Clever writing, very funny)
4. Strangers With Candy (so irreverant, so genius, so funny. And the source of Fandango/Hobocamp)
(NOTE: All were watched on DVD, not on boradcast)

FOUR PLACES YOU'VE BEEN ON VACATION:
1. Utah National Parks (the most beautiful places there are)
2. Jordan/Israel/Egypt (Advice - go to Egypt first. The grandeur of Petra makes the pyramids seem unimpressive by comparison)
3. Seattle (coffee messiah is the greatest coffee house in town)
4. Scotland (Isle of Skye... get there and see the Old Man of Storr)

FOUR WEBSITES YOU VISIT DAILY:
1. IMDB.com (daily trivia question and celebrity gossip in a nutshell)
2. agirlandaboy.com (not only am I a contributer, I'm a reader)
3. FRC.org (keeping tabs on the enemy)
4. Craiglsist.org (free section and musical instruments for sale)

FOUR OF YOUR ALL-TIME FAVORITE RESTAURANTS:
1. LoCoco's - Oakland CA (the meatballs have currants. CURRANTS!)
2. The Olive - Los Angeles (long defunct)
3. The Sushi House - Albany, CA (education with the food - how to cut salmon, etc.)
4. Culinary Institute of America (students cooking, couldn't be better)

FOUR OF YOUR FAVORITE FOODS:
1. Safewy Select Salsa (best non-authentic salsa in the world)
2. Carnitas Burrito (the perfect meal)
3. Sushi (the REAL perfect meal)
4. Morton's of Omaha Steak from Costcl (lovely when cooked med-rare)

FOUR SCHOOLS YOU'VE ATTENDED
1. Okemos Nursery School (where I fell in love with my first girl)
2. Del Cerro Elementary (went there longer than any other school until HS - 2 years and 3 weeks)
3. UC Berkeley (the only place I could see myself going)
4. San Francisco State (what a horror of a place)

FOUR PLACES I'D RATHER BE RIGHT NOW:
1. Rome (the most beautiful city I've ever seen)
2. Edinburgh (a damn close second, plus I speak the language)
3. A damn good concert (I'm craving live music these days)
4. Anywhere so long as I'm in Leah's loving arms (please, no barfing. I know, I'm such a dork. Well, if you had ever managed to get yourself into her arms, you'd know what I'm talking about)

Dork alert! Dork alert!

I'm so surprised you didn't say seared ahi. Or peetini.

As a Newgyptian (that's Egyptian by way of New Jersey. Or New Jerseyian by way of Egypt?) I feel I should take issue with your comment about the pyramids vs. Petra. But you're right - Petra is so much more impressive, and more eerily beautiful. Damn Nabateans!

I saw A Christmas Story in its original theatrical release! I did! And you're right; it totally bombed, though at the time I loved it, and I never tire of it.

But you don't know me, so you can still have the distinction of not knowing anyone else who saw it in the theater.

I sort of fibbed on the "I don't know anyone else" because I saw it with my mom and sister, and I recently met someone who also had seen it, but I can't remember who.

OK, wierd, just ate at LoCoco's for the 1st time this weekend (the grandparents are at Piedmont Gardens so we stick to the neighborhood) and I agree, the meatballs are amazing!
