In the Saddle

I'm back at home now after a fun, fulfilling, and long vacation. I had a nice time when I got back to my apartment last night--snuggling with the cat, eating my weight in pasta--and I had a good, deep sleep without too much feline interference. This morning I awoke to an achy and congested head and rain as heavy as a 22.4 pound cat. Ugh. Also, they must be doing work on the recently vacated next-door apartment because they kept turning my water on and off. Shower? Yes. Toothbrushing water? No. Water for the cat? Yes. Toilet-flushing water? No. Welcome home.

Simon is back in the states now too, although he's still in SoCal with his momma. We've talked on the phone five times since 4 p.m. yesterday, and it's great to have him almost back. It will be quite a scene at the airport when I pick him up tomorrow, yes indeed. I haven't seen him for two whole weeks. Let's never do that again, okay?

Despite the rain and the head cold and the unpacking and grocery shopping I should do before tomorrow morning, it's good to be back. I love seeing my family every day, but Salt Lake is SUPER BORING, and don't let anyone tell you different. It didn't even snow. Harrumph. I'm really looking forward to enjoying this weekend--my sweetie comes home, we cause a scene at the airport, we exchange super-secret Christmas presents, we embark on a super-secret New Year's date he's planned, we sleep in and enjoy each other's company between some cozy flannel sheets, and we entertain a surprise visitor who's sleeping over Monday night. Ah, the hectic normalcy of my life. It's good to be back.
