Simon Says - "The Big Question"
Wow. this was a big day. "The Question" was popped... No, everyone, not by me...
My sister has taken a great step today... the step from girlfriend to finacee. Hooray!
My sister is engaged to be married. This is huge. Monumental. Big. Very large.
In keeping with the system of pseudonyums, I shall from here refer to her as Mel, and I shall refer to her very nice boyfriend/fiancee as Kilo.
Kilo and Mel, Mel and Kilo. To be bound in semi-holy matrimony, to have and to hold and all that jazz.
So here's how it went... Mom and I hit the road today to go to stonehenge. we spent about two hours there, and this time I got my fill. On the way there, we kept talking about Kilo and whether or not he would ever get to it... whether or not he would do it soon, whether or not it would mean that he is a total dick if he went so far as to talk to the brother (me) about rings when he wasn't really serious.
We got to Stonehenge, and we saw it, blah blah blah, and then we went to lunch.
While at lunch, we talked about Mel and Kilo. Would he? Wouldn't he?
Then we drove around the English countryside for four hours, on our way back to Oxford. We took many B roads, the small ones, in order to see that countryside. All the way, we talked about Mel and Kilo. Would he? Wouldn't he? We had no idea.
So we finally get home. Mel is on the couch, talking with Kilo. After 10 minutes, as I'm trying to excuse myself to the boys' room, she says, "What would you think of us getting married?" And thus it was, they had gotten engaged that very day. As close as I can figure, it happened while we were at the Westbury White horse (http://wiltshirewhitehorses.org.uk/wesside.html).
So now, suddenly, I have realized that I will most likely know this guy for the rest of my life. Kilo, my new brother in law. That's how he introduced me around tonight to his friends... Brother in law.
Wow. Way to go Mel.
Anyway, I'm going to wrap this up. I'm pretty slow typing, what with all the celebratory beer (and there was a lot).
Goodnight from Oxford, everyone, from a boy who has seen his family shrink and shrink and shrink and shrink over the past four years, and has now finally seen it start to grow again.

Hooray! Way to go Mel and Kilo! Congratulations all around!
Woohoo! Congrats! It all sounds mucho fabulouso. Have a drink for all of us here celebrating.
CONGRATS! i love that last line... family's are like phoenixes
Hi all. I am now sober. Wrote this post last night, pretty drunk from being out celebrating with Kilo and his friends, while Mel and mom talked late into the night.
Reminds me yet again not to drive drunk. I can't tell you how long it took me to write this entry. Drunk typing ain't as easy as you'd think.
i think as far as drunk posts go yours was very well written and very tame... you know how some people drink and dial well i drink and blog. you are now an official blogger.
Chlamygirl,
It's not that it's poorly written. It's that it took me about 40 minutes. And that has nothing to do with anything other than the fact that I was too drunk to type.
