Have You Ever Seen the Rain?

Mother. Fucker.

The rain is coming down like gangbusters here. The thunder just shook the house and set off car alarms up and down the street. The local news keeps breaking in to my regularly scheduled program to issue severe thunderstorm warnings and high wind advisories. It's going to carry on like this through at least tomorrow. Looks like I'll be calling an airport shuttle rather than schlepping my luggage ten blocks through the storm to the BART station. Damn. But also yay. I hate taking luggage on BART.

But back to damn: it also looks like I'll have a terrifying flight home. It will be raining hard when I leave at 5:30 and snowing hard when I arrive at 8. Mother. Fucking. Fucker.

I hate flying.

I also hate driving in angry rain, but today I'll have to suck it up and be brave because I need to go to Simon's place and to the office to tie up a few loose ends before I leave. I think I'll take the surface roads rather than attempt high speeds on the freeway. I think I'll wear a helmet and a life preserver.

As soon as my necessary errands are complete (so much for frivolous clothes shopping), I'm coming home, donning the bunnies, and watching a Christmas movie. Cross your fingers the power doesn't go out. I think I'll set up some candles just in case.

Hope it went OK. I know this isn't much consolation, but the majority of the flight will probably be OK (flying above the weather more than likely). It's the stinkin' takeoff and landing, but those will be over quickly and, I'm sure, safely. I don't really like to fly, either.

hang in there, keep thinking of how nice it will be when you land. Enjoy the holiday and hey - when you see Simon again, won't it be WONDERFUL?!? I mean, you two are already too cute a little absence can only make it even more so, right?

I'm sure you'll be fine, kid. It's hard not to worry, though. The Bay Area knows all about rain and cloud so have no worries for rainy departures and arrivals in your adopted city and where you're going, well, they understand snow. You'll be fine and you'll have a great time. Remember, it is SO much safer than driving.
