Don't you hate it when you're crushing madly on someone and you can't find a picture that does them full justice, or at least one that's halfway decent and doesn't have you questioning your own taste? For instance, everyone I ever giggled girlishly on behalf of in school has a terrible terrible yearbook picture and it was always hard to justify my undying devotion for the guy wearing the gay sweater who may or may not be wall-eyed.
Now that I've moved beyond the rebel eighth-grader in my home ec class and the captain of the high school swim team, however, I am no longer limited by crappy yearbooks but expandified by Google. (Damn you, words!) Problem solved? Or at least easyified? (Seriously...) Nope. Whenever I Google for images of my latest minor celebrity love object, all I can find are photos in which the guy looks ugly, boring, drunk, or insane. Exhibit A. Exhibit B. Exhibit C. Exhibit D (top left).
That being said (hi Wally!), here are some photos of boys I love.
This was a free all-ages concert at Borders in SF last Sunday. Children: well-behaved. Parents: old. Children: eau de dirty diapers. Adults: eau de old.
Last Wednesday was the Decemberists concert that I have been looking forward to with rabid delight for months and months. Lead singer Colin "Hot Lips" Meloy did not disappoint, and I would have his babies if he asked me. This is the only photo I got that kinda sorta turned out.
Although no still photograph could ever capture the demeanor and talent and bright voice that make me want to invite Colin to my house so I can sit for hours at his feet and gaze up at him adoringly, there are plenty of cute-enough pictures of him courtesy of Google and, most especially photographer Alyssa Scheinson.
And I bet his yearbook picture's not bad either.
Update: I just downloaded about a dozen photos of Colin. He is now my desktop background and covered with my saliva.
Update the Second: I have checked my own website approximately five times in the last hour just so I can pop up little windows of Colin all over my desktop. Am I really that lonely or is he really that cute?
he really is that cute! i too have had the same problem about finding pictures of cillian murphy that do him justice. i've been crushing on him for a couple of years now. one of my friends says it's the goofy, leukemia look that i am attracted to... nothing wrong with finding tall, lean, unconventional looking boys attractive.
Girl, you and I have the same taste in geek-boys. Yum.

I get to see the Decemberists next week and experience the cuteness of Colin in person, yay!!
