Altogether All Alone

Don't let the title of this post scare you. Or excite you if you came here expecting some hardcore emotional drama. It's a fine morning and I'm feeling fine. I'm a little tired and just as unsettled as always, but things are more good than bad, so there. Today, for various reasons--some good, some not so--I am just feeling kind of lonely. Luckily, it's not the kind of lonely on a large-scale, cosmic, meaning-of-life level that I've grown accustomed to; no, it's just a general acknowledgment that this Monday I have fewer people to talk to than I am used to, and that's bumming me out. My office roomie Lo is out of town, my IM obsession is away from the computer all day, and Ethan finally made a good decision on his own behalf (that's one in a row) and has vowed not to be in contact with me for at least six months. I really do believe it'll be good for him in the end (IF he can pull it off, and that's a colossal IF), but I'll miss the midnight doughnut runs and Wednesday Alias dates and the aimless Sunday afternoon drives--all the stuff we've been able to enjoy during the last eight months, which happens to be both the length of time we've been broken up and the length of time we were engaged. In the last month or so, being around me has simply gotten to be too much for him, and while it's sad to see him go and I'll miss him a lot, I think this is good. Good for him, at least. I hope he can let go of the jealousy and suspicion and paranoia and get to a place where he can be happy for himself and happy for me. Time will tell...

As for today, however, this would be the perfect time to get an assload of work done, what with the phone quiet, the IM signed off, the email inbox empty, and my office all to myself. Yes, today I can catch up on all the work I've neglected, all the deadlines I've let slide, all the half-finished projects piled in a huge listing stack on the edge of my desk. But, really, what fun would that be? Not much, I'm guessing. So, dear readers, if you love me at all, please participate in this one-time-only special event: Operation Distraction. Write me an email. Tell me a story. Send me an mp3 or a video file. Direct me to a webpage. Compose me a poem. Pick a fight with me. Ask me a question. But be quick about it. Today, I'm all yours, but tomorrow I will be somebody else's.

Update Re: The Love
Where is it? I know it's Monday, people, but come on. I'm dying heah!

Quick! List everything in your office that begins with the letters "B" or "C" ... write down your 100 favorite movies of all time ... write down your favorite 100 songs of all time ... organize your Rolodex® by putting numbers in order by people you met first to most recently ... make a mental list of everything in your refrigerator, then write a recipe book based only on those ingredients ... plan your next vacation ... read the five most recent entries on every blog you've linked ...

I am T-bone, former King of the Time Wasters. If none of this helps, you're on your own, girl.

Just a moment at my seat, and you get my attention for those 5 minutes.

This is a callout to my homie: "Yo."

That is all - I am off again for the day.

Turn up your sound. Then go here:

Agh! I signed on to late. I hate to give you distractions now, as it may ruin your Tuesday!

Hmm. Here you can see where Mars Rover Opportunity landed and tooled around for a while, and you can test your sanity here.
