I've Got No Strings
Wireless is cool. I'm blogging from the Seattle airport. We had a wonderful weekend in Vancouver and are loathe to return to real life and work. Vacations are always nice. That's another thing I can't get enough of.
What happens in Canada should stay in Canada, but you know I can't keep anything to myself, so stay tuned for words and pictures about my days in our great sister nation to the north. Rest assured that all my goals were fulfilled:Beavers? Check. Mounties? Check. Canada Dry? Check. Fahrenheit/Celsius jokes? Check. French tv? Check. Alanis? Check. I also caught a lot of Olympic action--I had four channels of it to choose from--so I hereby dub the trip a success.
Ciao for now!

Did you find that Canada is like, 12 years behind us on the music front? That's what I always notice about our neighbors to the north. That and it's really COLD.
I loved Vancouver, but haven't been there in a while. Glad to hear that you enjoyed it.
Lainey: It only snows up here in the winter! Sheesh =) Just because winter is eight months long...
Anyhoo, glad to hear you had fun in the land of the noble beaver. Look forward to hearing more!
i'm glad you had fun in vancouver! it's my hometown, so i'm always happy to hear people have great visits there.
now, lainey just got me all riled up with her comment... canada isn't necessarily 12 years behind in music, it's that the video and radio stations are required by law to play a certain percentage of canadian recordings/artists, therefore to a visitor, it would seem unfamilliar or outdated. and, yes, in the winter it's cold in canada, just like how it's cold in most of the u.s. in fact, the hottest summers i remember were in toronto in july, and i've been a hell of a lot colder in new york in the winter than you'd ever be in vancouver.
...i'm just sayin'...
Sorry Sassy....I didn't mean to rile you up. I was just up in Montreal in May and couldn't get over how chilly it was.
I've heard Canada is just like Texas: a bunch of people speaking a language you can't understand, half the people drive pickup trucks and the weather is unusual. Can't we all just get along, y'all, eh? (Sorry to insult Texas or Canada, just sayin' ...)
Texas T-bone, come to Markham sometime, a little bit north of Toronto. Half the people speak Chinese and drive either a Lexus, BMW or Volvo. :)
I love the fact that we protect our Canadian artists, I love the music and culture here, that people are different and thus speak different languages and drive different cars. I may like being hot rather than cold, but damn, winter can be so beautiful.
Hey, I'm a fan of Loverboy... Bryan Adams... Alanis Morrisette... As far as I'm concerned though, Celine Dion should be on the on the "watch list" and consistently be denied a US visa.
